I just returned from a great three-month volunteer service on the Global Mercy in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Here is what I took away about this incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an outstanding and dedicated global team of volunteer professionals. It has been nothing short of a divine calling and a testament to the power of serving others in the name of God.
During my time on board, I witnessed daily countless miracles unfold before my eyes, from life-saving surgeries to the restoration of hope in the hearts of patients and their families. Each day, I was humbled by the opportunity to be an instrument of the love and healing in the lives of those we served.
Over 45 years ago Mercy Ships embarked on a sacred mission to bring hope andhealing to the forgotten poor, following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, who ministeredto the sick and the marginalized with compassion and grace. Through collective efforts,the ships are making a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals, demonstrating the transformative power of love in action.
As I reflect, I am filled with profound gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a remarkable ministry. I am grateful for the unwavering support and endless encouragement of my fellow volunteers and the entire Mercy Ships team, whose dedication and commitment to the mission were a source of inspiration to me every step of the way.
While my volunteer service may be coming to an end, I carry with me the memories of lives touched and transformed, the lessons learned, and the deep sense of purpose that comes from serving Sierra Leons people in need. I am forever changed by this experience and will continue to carry the mission of Mercy Ships in my heart wherever I go.
